Cano, Show Me The MMMOOONNNEEEYYY!

In the movie Jerry Maguire, Maguire screams show me the money while on the phone with his player.

Jay-z, Cano’s agent, delivered on his first contract negotiations. He signed Cano to a 10-year $240 million deal. This is a blockbuster deal, in which Cano will leave the Yankees for the Mariners.

Obviously Cano doesn’t care about winning another World Series title. He left one of the greatest franchise in sports for Seattle.

Seattle is a beautiful city, but it’s not New York. When Jacoby Ellsbury signed his free agent deal with the Yankees, it seemed that Cano was out the door.

The Yankees and Cano both made mistakes by not signing a contract with each other. We’ll see how much better Seattle got with Cano when the season begins.

In recent memory these monster contracts have failed. Look at the Angels, they gave two ridiculous contracts to Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton. Now Angels will have to eat over $300 million in salary.
