Show me the money!!!

A brash Johnny Manziel flaunts hand gestures which equated to “Show me the money,” toward Rice players after a touchdown. Johnny “Football” Manziel is obviously adopting the anti-hero role at Texas A&M. Manziel is the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and the only freshman to ever win the award. It was a tumultuous summer for Manziel. The Heisman Trophy winner engaged in off the field activities which transformed his public perception.

Manziel’s summer included an autograph scandal, which alleged that Manziel received money for autograph sessions. This is a clear violation of NCAA rules, where players cannot receive money for their autographs. The NCAA’s investigation lacked solid evidence against the star quarterback. Manziel’s punishment was being suspended for the first half against Rice

The Manziel scenario is ironic, a player who brings in millions of dollars for Texas A&M, cannot make money off his own signature. With all the negativity swirling around Manziel, he dominated the Rice Owl’s in the second half. Manziel threw 6 for 8 competitions for 94 yards and 3 touchdowns. The final score was Aggies 52 and Rice 31, not bad for a perceived “punk” quarterback who loves to party.

It’s Johnny Manziel’s world and we are just living in it.
